The Newcastle Region art gallery is the custodian of one of Australia's most substantial public art collections outside the major capital cities.

How to get there: The gallery is located at Laman St, Newcastle, directly behind Civic Park and next to Newcastle Region Library.

There is on-street parking and also a car park at the rear of the Gallery. The gallery is a short walk from Civic Station, CBD shops and services and also close to the Darby street dining and shopping precinct.

Opening hours: Open Tuesday to sundayfrom 10am to 5pm every day of the year except good Friday and Christmas Day.

Admission is free.
